Dear 25 Year Old Margot
Six months ago you got married left Israel for New York and today is your 25th birthday and you moved to Clearwater. A lot has happened the past six months. You’ve moved so much, you might go through some culture chock, but take one day at a time and you’ll do good. You may even feel insecure at times, since you do have and accent. But don’t worry, people will get used to your accent and will find it charming. Your friends and even your husband Michael, may at times make fun of your accent, but that’s only because the are jealous that they can’t speak any foreign languages.
Don’t forget to teach your future children and grandchildren Danish. It may not be a useful language, but it does make your brain work harder and they will be brighter than if they only had one language.
Don’t ever forget where you come from, be proud of yourself. Your whole childhood you lived in a small apartment with no hot running water and no shower, but you where always happy. Everyone in your school grew up the same way, and no one ever thought they were missing out on anything.
If you are lucky enough to have a fortunate life, make sure you treat all people alike.
Get involved in causes, and make sure you never lose your Jewish identity.
Don’t forget who you are. Live life to the fullest. Celebrate everything that’s good, if you don’t the bad things will happen whether you like or not.
Life’s great
